Moving Guide: Packing Tips for You

For the packing when moving, the following tips can help you do the job excellently. Yes, moving and all the packing supplies, labeling, loading, etc are strenuous, so knowing some tips will help you make the packing process a no-sweat at all.

For your packing supplies, you must keep the boxes, clear marking pens, bubble wraps, newspapers and tissues, tapes and scissors, and tape measure handy. Ensure that your boxes are strong and the containers that you will be using can be tightly secured. Buy special boxes that you will use for your wardrobe, dishes, and some other valuable items especially for your precious artworks and vases. Your audio and video equipment must be place in their original boxes. Label every cable and make sure that the screws removed from your equipment are taped on the objects where they are removed.

Do not load more than 50lbs of your items into one box so that the loaders will not have a hard time carrying and loading your boxes into the truck. Do not forget to label your boxes with fragile if the contents are breakable, which room it should go, and even the list of content of the box. Cushion the contents of your boxes with bubble wraps, tissues, or old newspapers. For fragile items, you can use blankets and towels for cushioning. For books, pack them in small boxes tightly. Before you actually move, clean draperies and rugs and leave them wrapped well for the move. Do not forget to pack medicines in a container that is leak-proof. Your valuables should stay with you at all times during the move.

When you start packing, start one room at a time. Do not go to other rooms until the room you are packing is done. In doing so, you can easily organize your boxes and your stuffs. This will make your packing a lot easier and smoother too. Before you fill the cartons or the boxes of your stuffs, tape their bottoms well to prevent the spilling of the contents from out the bottom during the move. The stuffs that are heavier should be put at the bottom and on top are the lighter items. This will prevent damage to your stuffs during the move.

Do not overfill the cartons as well as under fill them. Just be sure that when you fill the boxes, fill them up to the top but making sure that the boxes can still be close tightly. Spacing inside the boxes should be filled with towel, blanket, paper, or other things appropriate as cushion. Close the boxes and seal them shut with packing tape to prevent damages as well as make the stacking much easier. When stacking the boxes, similar boxes should be stacked for about 4 to 5 feet high. This will enable the movers to easily carry the boxes from your house into the truck.
